Getting into the swing of things

SEP 2010

A GETAWAY just 90 minutes from Brisbane promises both a championship golf course and an award-winning spa retreat.

The Noosa Springs Golf and Spa Resort, nestled alongside the lush Noosa National Park and picturesque Lake Weyba on the Sunshine Coast appeals on many levels, but the fact that it’s a hideaway, yet also just minutes from cosmopolitan Hastings Street and beaches is a key attraction.

Perfectly suited to a weekend family getaway or couples retreat, Noosa’s only golf resort, was voted one of Australia’s top 12 Stay & Play Resorts (2010 Golf Course Guide) and ranked in Australia’s top 50 Public Access Golf Courses since 2000.

Villa views overlook the golf course and kangaroos can be seen.

Golfers can pit their skills against natural spring-fed ponds, native flora and mirrored lakes while kangaroos, koalas and swans watch on.

The Fairways is the first stage of the dwellings for short-stay accommodation and comprises 42 luxury apartments (40 x 2 bedrooms and 2 x 3 bedrooms) situated along the first fairway of the golf course.

Apartments contain separate ensuites and are fully self-contained.

Managed by long-time GM Mark Brady, the Mediterranean-influenced resort also includes award-winning dining, world-class spa, floodlit tennis courts, fitness centre with cardio theatre and giant plasma screens for entertainment and a 25m pool.

The resort boasts the only flotation pool of its kind in Australia, which is a treat for the senses after a challenging day on the greens. Add to this a hydro massage pool, geisha bath and thermal capsule and just drift away in a bubble of relaxation.

Dining options are aplenty in Noosa, otherwise the Relish Restaurant within the resort is open for breakfast and lunch.

Spread across 103ha, the $400 million Noosa Springs is also popular with team building corporates, ideal for functions and a hit with sporting teams.

It has won Best Function/Convention Centre Caterer 2006 and again in 2009 by Restaurant and Catering Queensland – Sunshine Coast.
