Carter Newell promotes five

Carter Newell has promoted five of its staff; Laura Horvat, Elisha Goosem and Milton Latta to Special Counsel and Jillian Commins to Senior Associate and Liana Isaac to Associate.

Senior partner Paul Hopkins says the elevations of its current staff reinforce

the firm's supportive culture.

"These are wonderful days for Carter Newell," Hopkins says.

"When our elevated staff address the firm, to hear them say we are a firm of friendly, approachable and supportive people, and a great place to work, confirms our culture and future growth is in good hands," he says.

Laura Horvat will specialise in back end construction matters, advising clients with respect to construction industry related insurance claims, acting for insurers in relation to subrogated actions for recovery and conducting litigation in various state jurisdictions in the Supreme and District Courts.

Elisha Goosem provides specialist advice to clients in the construction and engineering industry with respect to disputes and insurance claims both for principals and contractors.

She also advises insurers with respect to professional indemnity claims across the various professionals within the construction and engineering industry, and on claims and indemnity issues under various insurance policies including contract works, liability and plant and equipment policies.

Milton Latta acts for insurers and corporate clients in the defence of personal injury and property damage claims, as well as in relation to pursuing recovery actions.

Latta's experience extends from trip and fall claims to more complex property damage claims including providing advice in relation to indemnity and policy response.

Jillian Commins specialises in personal injuries claims under the PIPA and common law.

She has advised insurers and corporate insureds on indemnity and liability issues as well as detailed quantum issues.

Commins focuses on claims involving personal injuries arising from hotelier claims, the mining industry and workplace injuries where the insured is the host employer.
