BUNNINGS INVESTS $810 MILLION ON NEW QUEENSLAND WAREHOUSES

HOME improvement retailer Bunnings will invest $810 million in building 20 new Queensland stores over the next five years.

The announcement follows the opening of its new distribution centre in Lytton last week with Premier Campbell Newman, with four sites in construction and seven pending.

Chief operating officer Peter Davis (pictured right) says there are four sites in construction and seven pending.

“We are pleased today to be able to demonstrate our confidence in Queensland’s future by committing over $810 million of investment which will create over 2500 additional permanent jobs.

“Investment in a new, state of the art distribution centre at Lytton, in the Port of Brisbane, provides us with the scale to support our next stage of growth in Queensland and will help us to improve distribution efficiency so we can keep offering our customers more and more value,” he says.

There are four warehouse stores being built at Manly West, West Ipswich, Burleigh Heads and Gympie.

Seven stores will commence construction in Brendale, Bundamba, Keperra, Mackay South, Mackay North, Maroochydore and Bundaberg.

Nine more locations have been locked in at Cairns, Coolum, Gatton, Hervey Bay, Lawnton, Newstead, Springfield Central, Toowoomba and Virginia.

“We look forward to being involved with more Queensland communities and offering Queenslanders the widest range, the lowest prices and the best service in home improvement and outdoor living.”

The Wesfarmers-owned chain has 51 stores across the state and employs more than six thousand team members.
