BRISBANE VFX PRODUCTION COMPANY CLEANS UP AT MAJOR INTERNATIONAL ADVERTISING AWARDS

AUSTRALIAN production company Alt.vfx has broken records in global advertising, becoming the first business to win a coveted Lotus award at Adfest for five consecutive years.
Not only did the visual effects specialist take out four separate Lotus awards in the Film Craft: VFX category at the 2017 Adfest gala held in Thailand, it was also named Production Company of the Year.
Colin Renshaw, who co-founded Alt.vfx alongside Takeshi Takada, says the team was gratified for such widespread recognition throughout their key markets.
"I think both Takeshi and I are especially proud of these awards," says Renshaw.
"For us the Asia-Pacific region is such an important part of our business, as it has been for the past five or six years.
"Everything we submitted this year picked up an award. I think that every year for us really comes down to having a great team of people who are passionate about creating good work."
Among Alt.vfx's Lotus-winning entries this year was the fourth instalment of its famous Momotaro ad series for Pepsi, one of Japan's largest and most successful campaigns.
The Momotaro series has been Alt.vfx's visual brainchild since the campaign was first launched in 2013.
The team also picked up awards for their work on the United States Food and Drug Administration's big bad wolf-inspired 'straw city' campaign, and Honda Civic's 'chase it' ads.
"We put our heart and soul into these works, exporting our creativity to Asia and beyond, and the results speak for the passion, dedication and ingenuity of our team," says Renshaw.
Some other creative gems to come out of the Alt.vfx workshop in the past few years include visual effects on Budget Direct's 'Captain Risky' campaign and the Toohey's signature 'nocturnal migration' ad.
Renshaw and Takada will establish a US office in Los Angeles within the coming weeks, adding to their existing offices in Sydney and Brisbane.
