Brisbane tech startup accepted into exclusive US accelerator program

A startup behind an AI-based IT support platform is one of seven companies from around the globe accepted into an exclusive US-based business accelerator program.

Brisbane-based TRIBU, a fresh startup from the minds behind CROFTi, beat out thousands of applicants to be accepted into the LAUNCH Accelerator.

LAUNCH is a 14-week program founded by serial techpreneur Jason Calacanis and, due to COVID-19 travel restrictions, will be held online for the first time ever.

Acceptance into the program is a major coup for the co-founders of TRIBU, Lucas Meadowcroft (pictured left), Amy Giles (pictured middle), and Dean Cavanagh (pictured right), who are three years into the journey of TRIBU.

TRIBU uses automation to solve 'Level 1' IT support issues (low level issues like email problems, resetting passwords, slow computers, etc.), to save businesses time and money by employing AI instead of a human technician.

"We automate these low-level tasks by taking away roles that IT engineers hate performing, and instead use AI to take care of the issues within seconds," says co-founder Meadowcroft.

"TRIBU is not designed to replace IT engineers' jobs, but rather is an 'add on' product for IT support helpdesks and managed service providers to help improve their customer service and increase efficiency."

TRIBU is only the sixth Australian company to ever be accepted into LAUNCH Accelerator since the program's inception in 2014.

Meadowcroft says he hopes the experience will catapult the company onto the world stage and give the business new opportunities that, without the backing of LAUNCH, were otherwise unattainable.

"The opportunity to learn from the mentors in the virtual room about how to build a solid foundation for our business while obtaining the investment required to continually grow and expand internationally is invaluable," said Mr Meadowcroft.

"There are other accelerator programs we could have applied for in Australia but this is on another level and the global reach is key to our expansion."

TRIBU's achievement rides on the back of Meadowcroft and Giles' success with CROFTi, an innovation consultancy and IT support services business, that birthed the idea of TRIBU.
