Next-gen vector search platform Marqo may have recently moved its headquarters to San Francisco, but at the cut-off date for applications for this list it was still based in Melbourne where it retains a key presence.

With an ability to return hyper-relevant search results in real time, Marqo's technology for developers makes it possible to harness untapped information siloed within unstructured data resources – an offering that saw its monthly recurring revenue surge almost 200-fold in the year leading up to a recent $19.4 million Series A raise.

On a mission to make seeing a health practitioner “as easy as ordering a pizza”, since 2021 Updoc has enabled more than 200,000 Australians to connect with its partner practitioners via its telehealth platform.

Founded by Uber and Canva alumni who also founded Jot Bikes, Updoc takes a product-first approach to telehealth, and was the winner of the 2023 Deloitte Tech Fast 50 Rising Star Award after experiencing 15,924 per cent growth.

One year after starting their eponymous fashion label, sisters Bianca & Bridgett set out on another journey: to create the world’s first breast lift tape.

Tired of the discomfort of using gaffer or electrical tape for the purpose and not being able to find "boob tape" on the market, they decided to develop their own product.

“Say goodbye to a $15,000 boob job” is a tagline of the Roccisanos, whose brand has become a global sensation with sales in six continents, and a range of auxiliary products such as lotions, scrubs and an anti-wrinkle silicone chest pad. 


Biome Australia founder Blair Norfolk

Founded in 2018, Biome Australia’s range of live probiotics helps prevent and support the management of health concerns, including low mood and sleep, bone health, iron malabsorption, mild eczema, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), and cholesterol.

While the biotherapeutics company has seen a rapid increase in brand recognition at home, it has also landed formal distribution agreements with UK-based healthfood wholesaler CLF and Ireland-based iiHealthfoods.

Acusensus founder Alex Jannink

The company has recently landed contracts in the US and South Australia, on top of continuing its work with authorities in NSW, Queensland and the ACT.

Having previously worked in the mining industry, Neil Fabry turned to starting his own scaffolding business in order to be closer to home.

Now, he and the team help regional towns rebuild their infrastructure after seismic events, as well as fix any damage to roofs or gutters.

Utilised by more than 10,000 businesses and individuals, Relevance AI is a low-code platform that allows users to create their own artificial intelligence for repetitive, costly and time-consuming tasks like answering customer inquiries, managing outbound sales or conducting market research.

Founded in 2020, the business has expanded to the US where it has a presence in San Francisco, which it plans to strengthen thanks to a $15 million Series A raise in December 2023.


Ofload founder Geoffroy Henry

Matching freight from Australia’s largest companies with transport operators across the country, logistics scale-up Ofoad’s high-tech digital freight-forwarding solutions manage the end-to-end journey through the supply chain from discovery, planning and booking to delivery and payments.

Founded by Geoffroy Henry in 2019, the company raised $92 million over the course of 2022 and 2023, and continues to see significant revenue growth while also gearing up to release a carbon reporting platform for all its shipper customers to access.


39. Chris Naoumidis (28) and Alex Naoumidis (26)

Mindset Health

Since it was founded in 2018, digital hypnotherapy company Mindset Health has helped more than 150,000 people with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), menopause and smoking addiction, while more recently it launched a new digital therapeutic for anxiety and depression called Claria.

Backed by an $18 million Series A at the start of last year, the company aims to scale its programs to get into the hands of more patients in the US, Australia and the UK by partnering with doctors and getting its programs covered by insurers.


Sidekicker founders Jacqueline Bull and Thomas Amos

Casual staffing platform Sidekicker was founded in 2012 by Jacqueline Bull and Thomas Amos, disrupting the traditional recruitment model by allowing pre-screened workers to access casual jobs as and when they choose, while employer partners are relieved of a “huge admin burden to process and onboard staff”.

In 2023 the company hit a milestone of having 27,000 workers on the platform, representing 170 per cent growth in two years.
