Aqualuma continues bright run

JULY 2010

UNDERWATER lighting specialist Aqualuma has continued its winning streak with Gold Coast luxury yacht brands, after securing a deal that will see Riviera exclusively fitted with its products.

The Helensvale-based manufacturer had earlier secured the exclusive rights to provide OEM lighting products to manufacturer Maritimo, with part-Riviera owned R Electronics the latest distributor.

The big drawcard for Aqualuma is that they are the only underwater lights that are internally serviceable, meaning boats don’t need to be hauled out of water for services or repairs.

R Electronics managing director Errol Cain, says the products are the ideal fit given Riviera’s slow re-emergence into the market that it once dominated.

“You can simply fit them and forget them. Other lights require three or six month internal maintenance. Aqualuma use one piece nylon polymer housing so there is never the possibility for an internal leak,” says Cain, who sold half of his family run company to Riviera in 2004.

“There are several other reasons that Aqualuma is our light of choice including the fact that they are one of the brightest lights available, they require zero internal maintenance and there are no warranty issues.”

R Electronics spends up to $200,000 per year on Aqualuma products, though Cain says the figure will ‘significantly increase’ this calendar year due to the exclusivity deal.

Aqualuma director Carl Amor, says the company has sold underwater lights to Riviera for the past four years however the new deal makes them the exclusive and only underwater light now fitted to the iconic Gold Coast brand.

“Riviera is an iconic Australian brand and has a very high-quality product,” he says.

“This is further acknowledgment of Aqualuma’s world-leading technology, quality, service and back-up. R Electronics has recognised they can get all this from one place and that’s why they’ve signed with us exclusively.”
