ADVOC BRISBANE DEBUT A SUCCESS

The 2016 Advoc Asia Conference, hosted in Brisbane for the first time by Cooper Grace Ward (CGW), has been deemed a huge success, with the firm welcoming 45 delegates from around the globe earlier this month.

Advoc is a leading international network of independent law firms which now has nearly 100 members from 70 countries worldwide. The conference was held in the river city for the first time in the event's 22-year history.

Managing Partner Chris Ward says that attendees relished the chance to build relationships and share insights into the legal international landscape. Hot topics for discussion at the event included the globalisation of the profession, digital disruption, outsourcing and the changing nature of client needs.

"With such a diverse group of delegates in attendance, it was a great opportunity to explore current issues affecting the Australian and Asian economies, as well as international issues such as Brexit, the US elections and the EU," says Ward.

"The delegates were overwhelmed by the breadth and depth of knowledge of our guest speakers, not only in relation to Australia and Asia but the world at large."

Delegates were also given a taste of local hospitality and lifestyle through organised visits to the City Hall, Gallery of Modern Art as well as a day-trip to Noosa.

"It was a terrific opportunity to showcase our region and reciprocate the wonderful hospitality we have experienced at other Advoc events," says Ward.

"The feedback from delegates has been universally appreciative, enthusiastic and complimentary of our city and CGW."
