DAVE ARTHUR
SPORTS business analyst Dave Arthur has joined Southern Cross University’s graduate college of management as a senior lecturer and course coordinator. He has authored many academic articles and acts as a consultant for sporting organisations, most recently with National Rugby League. Arthur has relocated from Lismore to the university’s riverside campus in Tweed Heads.


TRAVIS AULD

THE Gold Coast Football Club has appointed Travis Auld as chief executive officer. Auld, currently chief operating officer of Essendon Football Club, will guide the Gold Coast Football Club during its formation as it builds towards its inaugural AFL season in 2011. Auld will also need to establish community support by building strategic partnerships with governments, regional and local football bodies, community football associations, the AFL and AFL clubs.


SIMON BLACK
STELLA Hospitality Group has appointed Simon Black to the position of area revenue manager. The role will see Black handle the revenue management function for 24 Mantra and BreakFree properties on the Gold Coast and in Brisbane. Black brings a wealth of sales and marketing and revenue management experience to the role, having previously held senior positions with the Marriott group for more than 15 years.


NICK CLARKE
SOFITEL Gold Coast has appointed Nick Clarke as director of sales and marketing. English-born Clarke relocated to Australia in 2003 and has been Accor’s national account manager MICE for the past four years, based in Sydney. Clarke has more than 14 years experience in the hospitality industry and extensive international experience with an impressive portfolio of five star hotels in the UK – primarily in positions which focus on meeting and events.


KEN DUDDY
KEN Duddy has been appointed cluster director of sales and marketing, Gold Coast. The promotion will see Duddy direct the sales and marketing departments for the Surfers Paradise Marriott Resort and Spa as well as the Courtyard by Marriott Surfers Paradise Resort. Duddy brings several years of experience in the industry to the role.


MEGAN MICHAEL
MEGAN Michael has joined Minter Ellison Gold Coast as the HR and communications adviser. Prior to working at Minters Michael held HR positions at PricewaterhouseCoopers, Hudson, Downing Teal and Gold Coast International Hotel. In her new role, Michael will implement a range of HR initiatives focused around talent management, employee branding and organisational development.


GERRY MIFSUD
GERRY Mifsud has been appointed business development manager for the Australian Technical College, Gold Coast. The college has been constructed for seniors 11 and 12 who have an interest in the trades and is due to be completed by January 2010. Mifsud has an extensive background is business development, recently with TAFE Qld promoting the small business solutions initiative throughout the state.


BEN MUNRO
BEN Munro has been appointed partner of Shine Lawyers’ Southport branch. Munro has been practising for 13 years and after joining Shine in 2005 he moved up the ranks to become an associate in 2007 and now partner. He brings expertise in personal injuries law as well as criminal, family and construction law to the firm.


MELISSA PEARSON
DOMAIN Resorts and Residences has appointed Melissa Pearson as resort manager at its Santai, Casuarina Beach property. With a background of more than 13 years in the tourism and hospitality industry, Pearson has held various strata title management positions, business, development and local government tourism roles. Her experience stems from having worked with major brands such as Accor, Verve Hotels and Resorts and Ramada.


SIMON PROCTOR
SIMON Proctor has been appointed to the role of general manager sales and marketing at Conrad Jupiters. He has more than two decades of international commercial and marketing experience. Most recently Proctor worked as the general manager customer experience marketing for southeast Queensland operating across Conrad Jupiters and Conrad Treasury in Brisbane.


NEIL RANGELEY
NEIL Rangeley was recently appointed director of business development with Gold Coast United football club. With more than 30 years experience in business, marketing, human resources, and as a business operator himself with BP Australia. Rangeley’s key responsibilities are sponsorship, corporate sales and membership.


JOEY WRIGHT
THE Gold Coast Blaze basketball team has appointed Joey Wright as the new coach for the 2009-2010 season. The former NBL coach of the year, Wright is a former Brisbane Bullets coach who led the team to great heights, including a number of finals appearances and a minor premiership. Wright aims to bring the Gold Coast Blaze similar success.
