QUEENSLAND Airports Limited (QAL)'s September passenger statistics show consistent growth across all airports. Managing director Dennis Chant says both Mount Isa and Townsville airports continued to benefit from the economic boom in northern Queensland, while the Gold Coast recorded positive passenger growth for the school holiday period.

Figures show 16 percent and 15.3 percent increases at Townsville and Mount Isa airports respectively, while Gold Coast recorded growth of 3.4 percent.

"While the business market continues to drive increased traffic at our northern Queensland airports, local events in Townsville such as the Greek Festival and Jazz Festival also contributed
to visitation during the month of September," says Mr Chant.

On the Gold Coast, successful airport and airline marketing campaigns for the school holiday period produced strong passenger figures."

Overall, QAL airports recorded a 6.5 percent increase in passenger movements during the same month last year.
