DVD out of the bunker

What do you get when you combine the ideas of a physiotherapist, personal trainer and video producer? An innovative success story with business savvy to match.

The X Factor Golf DVD, is the brain child of physiotherapist Josh Meyer, personal trainer Marc Renai and video production expert Wayne Soutar. The DVD provides golfing enthusiasts of all levels with a tool to use their body effectively to develop a better swing and to ultimately achieve greater results on the golf course.

The three developers of the program share a passion for one of the world’s most popular sports and recognised a niche in the industry that focuses on golfing’s main tool – the body.

Having worked with professional golfers over a period of eight years in his physiotherapy work Josh Meyer was constantly treating golfers for injuries incurred predominantly from poor posture and body positioning.

“Seeing this problem over and over again we decided to develop a range of products that encourage golf fitness off the course, and that assists in the management of golf injuries,” explains Meyer.

“A great golf swing starts with good posture and the X Factor Golf DVD helps to build the ultimate swing whilst eliminating muscle fatigue and general tightness throughout the neck, shoulders and back regions.

“Producing a professional DVD provides us with a means of demonstrating injury mitigation strategies and correct techniques to golfing enthusiasts all over the world.”

The DVDs success has been unrivalled with copies being sent as far afield as Tokyo and the UK. The X Factor program includes customised screening, assessment and recommendations essential for all levels of golfing expertise presented in a visually appealing and easy to comprehend format.

“Whilst there are multiple DVDs for golfers available this production is truly unique because it focuses on fitness, posture and ultimately ‘long lasting’ strategies that not only improve a golfer’s swing but keeps them in good shape, minimising injury,” says Meyer.

Soutar Video Productions CEO and director Wayne Soutar, says his involvement with X Factor developed following discussions with Meyer and Renai several months ago.

“Having produced television coverage for the Australasian and US Women’s Golf Tour and been involved in the professional golfing industry for many years I could certainly see the potential and a niche in the wider golfing market for a product like X Factor,” he says.
