CEOS BRAVE THE COLD TO RAISE $1.4 MILLION FOR THE HOMELESS

MORE than 400 executives confronted the cold last night in the annual Vinnies CEO sleepout, which took place beneath the Story Bridge.

Participants got a taste of what around 105,000 Australians living on the street experience every night, and in doing so raised around $1.4 million to aid the homeless.

Among the 400 executives, managers and business owners who slept out, using only a sheet of cardboard as a mattress, was Microhire business development manager Karyn Cullen.

Cullen joined the cause as she says her business seeks to be an example of what other companies can do to help the community.

"The event was an eye-opening experience and it showcased how businesses can come together to support the communities they operate in," says Cullen.

"It is essential to give back. By shedding a light on this event and helping out, we hope to inspire others to provide support where they can.

"The turn out this year was fantastic so we know Vinnies will continue to have a positive impact on the lives of those who are without a home."

Cullen's company donated more than $50,000 worth of audio visual solutions for the event and also equipped organisers with a live web-streaming service and social media feed.

In Queensland alone, there is currently 20,000 Australians without a home who benefit from events such as the Vinnies CEO Sleepout.
