MODERN JUSTICE IN AN ERA OF PRIVATE LAW

MODERN JUSTICE IN AN ERA OF PRIVATE LAW

THE Stamford Plaza Hotel in Brisbane will play host to a gathering of the world's top law experts who are set to debate global challenges to modern justice in the area of private law.

The debate is expected to hammer out an agenda for private lawyers nationally and internationally, recognising a diverse range of legal and social interests in the mix.

Five international keynote speakers and more than 30 sessional panellists from eight different countries will speak on topics including contemporary challenges for litigation practice, new interests and technologies, law reform and the management of trusts and money.

Organisers say the purpose of the event is to identify setbacks that private law is likely to face, giving legal practitioners, policy-makers and education professionals tools for navigation around those problems.

Keynote speakers on day one include Professor Andrew Burrows from the University of Oxford and Professor Ken Oliphant from the University of Bristol, with second-day addresses to be delivered by Professor Henry Smith from Harvard University and Professor Hanoch Dagan from the University of Tel Aviv.

The conference will run for two days over December 14-15, marking the latest in a series of events and initiatives launched by the Australian Centre of Private Law at the University of Queensland.

Registration for the event closes on December 4, so to book a place or learn more about the event click here.
