BRISBANE LAWYERS' GO-TO FINANCIAL ADVISER WINS NATIONAL IFA AWARD

BRISBANE LAWYERS' GO-TO FINANCIAL ADVISER WINS NATIONAL IFA AWARD

LONG-TIME supporter of the Queensland Young Lawyers and regular contributor to Brisbane Legal, VISIS Private Wealth Partner John O'Brien, has just returned from Sydney accepting his award as the IFA's 2016 top multi-service practitioner, in front of 400 of the nation's top independent financial advisers.

The 2016 IFA Multi-Service Practitioner of the Year Award recognises exemplary performance in the delivery of best practice advice, financial solutions and demonstrated business acumen across a diverse range of services including investment management, business and personal insurance, finance and lending, superannuation and business services.

O'Brien says his win was a reward for the efforts the team at VISIS had made over the past ten years to build a trusted, non-industry aligned firm that kept client interest at the core of the company's vision.

"We've never wavered from our fundamental belief that to offer the best quality advice, requires absolute independence in thinking, to ensure the confidence that clients have in us grows exponentially over time," says O'Brien.

"It leads to better financial outcomes for our clients, because the time we take in establishing a fit-for-purpose financial solution, enables them to trust us as we guide them through volatile times.

"Just as it is in the legal profession, trust is the most important factor in achieving your clients' objectives, by setting clear parameters, allowing for flexibility in the event of changes to life circumstances, and having the ability to quickly adapt to accommodate those changes."

O'Brien's clients include some of Queensland's top solicitors and barristers, as he has built a reputation within the industry for offering tailored financial solutions specific to the needs of legal professionals.

He's been an active sponsor of Queensland Young Lawyers (QYL) for the past 10 years, running the Association's annual financial planning seminar for its members and co-sponsoring regular events.

"I've been fortunate historically  to work with young lawyers who have, over the years, progressed through to becoming barristers and partners of law firms that I've met through my association with QYL," he says.

"To see a client prosper financially means I've played a small role in their success - they know that that their financial security is being managed, which allows them to concentrate on developing their careers and setting themselves up for greater things later in lifeit's thoroughly rewarding."

O'Brien's win comes off the back of another award last year when VISIS Private Wealth was named the 2015 IFA Boutique Firm of the Year, a major achievement for a Queensland financial services firm.
