BRAVEHEARTS ATTRACTS LEGAL DOYEN
HIS Excellency the Honourable Paul de Jersey AC, Governor of Queensland, has joined national child protection advocate Bravehearts as Patron-in-Chief.

Mr de Jersey will support the organisation by attending functions and promoting the work Bravehearts does in the community to educate, empower and protect children from sexual assault.

Bravehearts Founder and CEO Hetty Johnston AM (pictured right with de Jersey), welcomed the vice-regal patronage and looks forward to working with the Governor General to raise more awareness about a crime that affects 1 in 5 Australian children before their 18th birthday.

"This is a great day for Bravehearts and the children and families we support in communities right across the country," she says.

"Mr de Jersey comes to Bravehearts with an impeccable social justice background and illustrious legal career including Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. He is passionate about protecting children and we look forward to his patronage and support."

Mr de Jersey said he would support the communities of Queensland to help bring about positive change.

"Apart from constitutional responsibilities, and important ceremonial and civic duties, my other essential goals, as I see them, will be to seek to support, encourage and inspire all Queenslanders; and to do all I can to uphold and promote the advancement of our great State, and thereby the welfare of our people," he said during a swearing in speech in July.

Mr de Jersey was sworn in as Queenslands 26th Governor by Chief Justice Tim Carmody in a ceremony held at Queensland Parliament House on July 29.

Bravehearts Founding Patron and Executive Chairman of Ord Minnett Karl Morris, says he looks forward to working with the Queensland Governor to the benefit of Australias children.
