MORE STARTUPS TO 'GERMINATE'
STARTUP accelerator ilab is welcoming a new cohort of businesses across industries stretching agriculture to music.

Five startup teams have been selected to participate in ilab's latest Germinate accelerator program, after a 3-day selection bootcamp featuring 60 Queensland founders pitching their propositions to a range of mentors.

The winning teams employ a cross of data- and app-based technologies, and there's one social platform too.

Agalytics will mine agriculture data to provide a rapid and economical solution for infield soil and crop nutrient testing, and Vet Suite Technologies Vet Connect is all about digitally recording key patient data to provide real-time updates on pets to worried parents.

AirSponge is a platform for getting your car washed wherever you are at whatever time and price an idea that won at Brisbane Startup Weekend for Women earlier this year while Reinventing Divorce's app platform will focus on guiding couples through a cooperative process to reach an equitable court-sanctioned divorce settlement.

Last not but least, 50DMC is a social hub for musicians, producers and their supported merging production fundraising, commissioning and management.

ilab director Bernie Woodcroft says the 'mix and mashing' of founders and 'different thinking' is responsible for the accelerator's ongoing success.

"It's a crucial benefit of any accelerator and one that ilab has witnessed time and again through our support of over 100 startups over the past 3 years," says Woodcroft.

The Germinate program has commenced and will culminate in an investor pitch event in April 2016.

ilab operates with support from the Queensland State Government and The University of Queensland through its commercialisation company UniQuest.
