FORGET HOVER BOARDS - SIMPLICITY IS THE WAY OF THE FUTURE

ALTHOUGH 2015 doesn't have consumer ready hover boards zipping around our cities, we still have so much to look forward to.

Futurist and digital guru Chris Riddell predicts a world of simplicity and simplification, one where we will live longer and live easier.

Forget traffic and dangerous driving, in 2020 our cars will be driving us to the local shops says Riddell.

"In five years' time nobody will have a driver's licence. You will be able to buy your own driverless car within the next three to five years in Australia," says Riddell.

"Our children will never use a steering wheel, and drink driving will be a thing of the past. Accidents will be reduced to possibilities of hackers or computer malfunctions, rather than human error."

Even the omnipresent smart phone will become obsolete, with wearables becoming part of our clothes and our skin.

"Separate mobile phones will become a thing of the past," says Riddell.

"The future will have mobile devices and chips built into our clothes, and even our bodies. We will continually interact with virtual environments as we walk around and travel, and our lives will be shared online with our friends in real-time."

Riddell says all this future tech is even going to prolong our life expectancy, with healthcare becoming on-the-go and immediate.

"Wearable devices will become smarter and will share information with your doctors, healthcare providers and insurance companies in real-time," he says.

"Expect to live longer, and work longer too - when your body organs start breaking down, 3D printing allows you to just create a new one, right there and then."
