NEXTDC BOOSTS VMVAULT'S CLOUD CONNECTION

NEXTDC (ASX:NXT) partner VMvault is one of the first companies to secure a live ExpressRoute connection through the AXONVX virtual exchange, in NEXTDC's M1 Melbourne data facility.

Built on a high-speed switching fabric, AVONVX allows customers to activate connections to their cloud services on-demand, and with increased security and reliability.

VMvault, which operates out of Brisbane and Sydney CBDs and data centres around the country, provides specialist private cloud services to a number of businesses, including Morgans, Ray White, Westpac, the Brisbane City Council, Kawasaki and Netball Australia.

VMvault senior systems consultant, Radek Tkaczyk, says the AXONVX model is tailored to the demands of the market.

"In addition to fast, secure private connections to our customers' cloud platforms, AXONVX offers a pay-per-use billing model that suits how the market increasingly wants to consume these kind of services: on demand, with complete flexibility and scalability," Tkaczyk says.

"By utilising the VMvault private national MPLS network, we will be able to present Microsoft Azure services on the same private MPLS network as Windows Azure VMs, or Azure Active Directory, all without touching the public Internet.

"The high speed 20Gbps connection via AXONVX to ExpressRoute will give our customers who want access to Microsoft public cloud services real cost-savings and flexibility compared to traditional connectivity approaches, not to mention a huge increase in available bandwidth."

NEXTDC general manager, Steve Martin, believes the association with VMvault is of benefit to both businesses.

"VMvault have a very high-quality business offer featuring top-of-the-line equipment with built-in redundancy, hosted partly in our S1 Sydney and B1 Brisbane data centres," he says.

"That fact that they are now offering direct connections to ExpressRoute via AXONVX in the M1 Melbourne data centre is a valuable new service and point of presence for their clients, and reinforces M1's status as the city's most connected colocation facility."
