STARS SIGN ON TO CELEBRATE DECADE OF YOUNGCARE

YOUNGCARE has enlisted some big names to perform at its annual Benefit Concert to raise money for young Australians with high care needs.

Bernard Fanning, #1 Dads and Mosman Adler have donated their time to celebrate the charity's 10th anniversary at Brisbane City Hall in October.

Fanning says he is looking forward to the event, as the venue holds special memories for him.

"It was an atmosphere like no other I have experienced as a performer. I can't wait to be part of it again. It's an iconic venue that rarely hosts concerts such as these," he says.

"As always, we also have a special surprise guest. Come along and be part of it, help a great cause and be entertained up to the eyeballs for your trouble."

Since 2005, Youngcare has been working to provide purpose-built accommodation for thousands of young Australians living in aged care and hundreds of thousands more being cared for at home by loved ones.

The events have raised more than $650,000 to facilitate grants, research and a support phone line.

Youngcare CEO Samantha Kennerley says the charity is extremely grateful for all the musicians who give their time for a great cause.

"Since that first concert in 2006, Youngcare has built homes for dozens of young Aussies who needed to get out of residential aged care and provided more than $2.2 million to over 400 young people through our grants programs," Kennerley says.

"We've set the standard for a new model-of-care with our recently opened share house for four young people in Brisbane, and we're about to kick off our first development in Sydney apartments for eight young people at Auburn.

"There have been some incredible advances in care and accommodation but there is still plenty of work to do."

Over the years, the event has attracted the likes of Missy Higgins, Kasey Chambers, Powderfinger, Pete Murray, Tim Rogers and Clare Bowditch.

Supported by Suncorp Insurance, the Youngcare Benefit Concert will be held on October 10. Tickets cost $85.
