SELASI Berdie feels people today are consistently starved of an adequate offering of healthy food and lifestyle options.
He uses the term 'delicious justice' to describe his own business credo, the sole focus of which is to combat preventable poor health and lifestyles.
The establishment of the multi-award winning BSKT café is Berdie's personal response to the problem, attempting to make it easier for people to access the exact type of easy and healthy way of life they have been missing out on.
"I started the business because I found it near impossible to find food that I thought had nutritional value but also tasted good," says Berdie.
"With diet being the cause of so many diseases we've become prone to trying to fix the issue with a thousand pills and a whole lot of unrealistic treatments.
"To me the answer was simple, if I could create a place where people eat better and exercise more, I've done a small part in helping people become healthier which has always been my number one passion."
BSKT is one of the Gold Coast's most popular up-and-coming oceanfront cafés, with an adjoining function space designed to cater for a variety of community events including yoga and fitness classes.
Prior to opening the doors, Berdie and his team spent so much time and effort marketing the business that by the time they reached their grand opening the staff could barely keep up with the volume of people coming in.
Berdie plans to improve the level of service at BSKT and keep pushing the boundaries on what is considered the typical "healthy meal".
"There is so much out there in the world of food and hospitality that hasn't been touched and my key focus is to bring these offerings to our amazing customers and anyone looking for healthier food and lifestyle options," says Berdie.
"I search every day for anything novel and innovative that allows us to deliver 'delicious justice'."
