GREETERS PROGRAM SECURES NEW PERK

THE Coffee Club has teamed up with the Brisbane Greeters program to welcome visitors to the city with a cuppa.

The Brisbane-based café franchise is the first official sponsor of the initiative created by Brisbane Marketing in 2012.

The free ambassadorial service has welcomed more than 25,000 visitors to Brisbane from its network of 200 volunteers since inception.

Brisbane City Council councillor Julian Simmonds (pictured right) says the partnership demonstrates growing demand for an authentic visitor experience.

"The Brisbane Greeters offer a truly holistic service with the team speaking 25 languages between them while their work in hosting media to the city has secured more than $30 million in free publicity for Brisbane," Simmonds says.

"The Brisbane Greeters program provides a valuable opportunity for city-proud residents to share their love of the city and it also creates opportunities for more visitor spend and longer stay.

"The new partnership arrangement with The Coffee Club will provide the Greeters and their guests with resting points, meeting places and special offers during tours around Brisbane and offset some of the costs in running the program."

Simmonds says the arrangement was a "natural fit" with both parties sharing a genuine passion for Brisbane.

The Coffee Club director John Lazarou (pictured left) says the goal of the program aligns well with the company's ideal of connecting people over coffee.

"Like the Brisbane Greeters, we are passionate about this city having opened our first store in Eagle Steer Pier in 1989 and we look forward to being part of the Greeter experience for both Brisbane locals and visitors alike," Lazarou says.
