The founders of Strike Group have recently released Strike Alpha Cradle, the world’s most advanced phone car cradle, given the seal of approval by the Queensland police force.
Sales of the Alpha Cradle have increased at a rate of 25 per cent per month since its launch in July last year and global distribution now includes the United States, United Kingdom, with South America and Europe also on the cards.
“There was a need in Australia in particular for mobile phone car cradles and we questioned how we could not only abide by the law, but also work it to our advantage,” says Ryan.
“The idea inception to implementation took two years with a team of six working on the research and development of the product – it was very dot com style in the initial stages of pulling everything apart and putting it back together.”
The product is revolutionary, with Strike now having patented the process around the world.
“This facilitates our speed to market and puts competitors three months behind by allowing us to have a phone specific cradle on the market for when the phone is released,” says Ryan.
“Alpha is the future of our organisation and exciting considering it has been wholly designed, innovated and manufactured right here in Brisbane.”
While the Alpha Cradle may be regarded as the future of Strike, GPS technology is posited as the future of the Alpha Cradle.
GPS is then posited as the future of the Alpha Cradle, with Rockett having a secondary business in this technology which will be further integrated with Strike products in the future.
“Adam has been in charge of a secondary business and software development team which has implemented an app that works with our cradle and basically turns your phone into a GPS tracker,” says Ryan.
This innovative approach is the result of “multiple failed ordinary businesses” – according to Ryan – from wine distribution to car covers that started when the pair graduated high-school.
At 20-years-old, the pair was on a business trip in South Africa and was approached by someone who asked if they knew anyone in telecommunications to help out his business.
They didn’t – but their entrepreneurial brain compelled them to say yes, quickly recruit a team of nine and launch the Strike Group in 2001.
“We didn’t start the business because of a passion for telecommunications – we are passionate about business as a game and growing a great company,” says Ryan. “The product came secondary to this original goal of building a strong organisation.”
While honing in on the cradle market, Rockett and Ryan intend to grow the organisation from its current staff base of 45, but are wary about growing too fast.
“Our research and development team is set for expansion considering our innovation-focus, but the biggest risk of a small business like ours is growing too rapidly and losing focus.”
