DAILY COMMUTE TAKES AWAY A DAY A YEAR
AUSTRALIANS have added 24 hours a year to their commute time since 2012.

A Regus survey that canvassed 22,000 Australian professionals revealed that Brisbane commuters spend an average of 27 minutes travelling to and from work every day.

This number fell slightly short of the average Australian travel time of 29 minutes, which is a three minute increase since 2012.

Regus Australia and New Zealand CEO Paul Migliorini says a couple of minutes might seem insignificant, but aren’t really in the broader scheme of things.

“Three minutes each way may not sound like much, but it adds up to one wasted day a year for most Australians,” says Migliorini.

Migliorini calls for flexible work options to minimise travel time and avoid rush hour.

“Many smart workers are negotiating flexibility into their working week in order to maintain a healthy balance of work and life and avoid rush hour commuting,” says Migliorini.

“Examples include offering workers flexible hours to miss the peak hour rush and allowing employees to work from remote locations.”
