CEOS 'ROUGH IT'

SOME of Brisbane’s biggest corporate hitters will rough it tonight as they participate in the 2011 Vinnies CEO Sleepout at South Bank.

Supporters include, Ipswich Mayor Paul Pisasale, Vinnies CEO Peter Maher, Shine Lawyers Director Susan Forrester, Queensland legend Sir Llew Edwards and South Bank Corporation's Malcolm Snow (all pictured).

More than 120 business and community leaders have signed up to experience what it’s like to live on the streets to help tackle the recent spike in homelessness across the Sunshine State following the floods.

CEO’s will have just a couple of cardboard sheets to soften the ground, a sleeping bag and a cup of soup to keep warm.

St Vincent de Paul Society Queensland CEO Peter Maher says corporate leaders had stepped it up a notch, with more than double the number of participants from that of last year.

“Queensland’s floods ravaged thousands of homes and businesses earlier this year, leaving many men, women and children without roofs over their heads,” he says.

“So it’s great to see that Queensland CEO’s are not only recognising the issue, but are also willing to go head-to-head to raise money for the cause.”
