CEDAR WOODS AT RISK OF GOVERNMENT CALL IN

CEDAR WOODS AT RISK OF GOVERNMENT CALL IN

THE Queensland Government is reconsidering the proposed Cedar Woods development at Upper Kedron.

Deputy Premier and Minister for Infrastructure, Local Government and Planning Jackie Trad will issue a proposed ministerial call in notice for the development application.

Brisbane City Council approved the residential project in December 2014, which consists of 780 lots and the potential for 200 lots with a possible road connection to Ross Road.

Concerns have been raised in the community about the impact to local traffic and if Cedar Woods complies with the council's planning scheme, City Plan 2014.

Trad says the decision will be made on planning merit and not politics.

"The development is a significant subdivision on undeveloped and constrained land adjoining the Brisbane Forest Park," she says.

"I also note that council's decision is a departure from its planning scheme, which was only adopted in 2014.

"As the Minister for Planning and Infrastructure, I want to ensure that there is an efficient, effective and accountable planning and development assessment system, which is also a state interest.

"We made a commitment to listen to the community and this proposed call in notice will provide an opportunity for all stakeholders to have their say."

Relevant parties can make submissions on the proposal until March 30, with the final decision to be announced by April 29.
