BUSINESSES BENEFIT FROM INNOVATIVE DESIGN

TWO new Woolloongabba restaurants have piqued the interest of locals, following a revamp by Bailey Retail Design (BRD).

BRD principal Janet Bailey spearheaded the design and fit-out of Banana Leaf Thai and Raphy’s Espresso (pictured), both located on Wellington Road.

Bailey says the businesses have received praise for their individual designs, complementing the other shops and restaurants nearby.

She chose a “happy” theme for Raphy’s Espresso, to draw customers in and wake them up with more than just coffee.

“Because it was on a main road it really needed to pop visually, given that people are driving past at a fast speed,” Bailey says.

“Colour was the best way to attract passers-by and I evolved that into a retro theme with bright pinks, oranges and a plastic flamingo in the front garden.”

Bailey says she was inspired by a “street feel” when planning the interior of Banana Leaf Thai next door.

The intention was to attract a new and younger clientele by steering clear of traditional Thai design in similar establishments.
