BRISBANE TOURISM COMPANIES TAKE OUT TOP AWARDS

TWO Brisbane businesses have been nationally recognised at the 2013 Qantas Australian Tourism Awards.

The Emporium Hotel in Fortitude Valley took home gold in the luxury hotel category, with Ocean View Estates Winery and Restaurant winning bronze in wineries, distilleries and breweries.

Emporium Hotel general manager Peter Savoff says winning the title for the second year in a row is a testament to the team.

“We continue to drive new thinking, contribute to our industry and benchmark what is possible when a team of passionate professionals focus on pushing traditional hospitality boundaries,” he says.

Hotel owner Anthony John says the award caps off another successful year, with more events to focus on in the future.

“With the G20 and Commonwealth Games approaching as leading global events, Brisbane is entering its phase as a New World City and we are proud to know that Emporium Hotel stands tall against any luxury operator in the world,” he says.

Emporium beat out the Hilton Melbourne South Wharf, the Crown Metropol in Perth, Saffire-Freycinct in Tasmania, The Sebel Playford Adelaide, the Northern Territory’s Sails in the Dessert, Chateau Elan at The Vintage in New South Wales and the Hyatt Hotel Canberra.

Eleven businesses in Queensland were selected from 200 finalists in the country.
