ANNIVERSARY MAKEOVER FOR COAST ICON

ANNIVERSARY MAKEOVER FOR COAST ICON

THE NEW Sheraton Mirage (pictured) sparkles in the sunlight beaming from the enormous lobby windows that frame breathtaking views of Gold Coast’s Main Beach.

It is hard to imagine it looking any other way. But the five-star resort, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary this month, has been transformed following a $26 million renovation funded by its owners, Pearls International.

“We are delighted to embark on this significant milestone for the resort and having already received our official five-star rating, the extra works have provided us the ability to deliver a world-class venue that is unique to the Gold Coast and is synonymous with the iconic Sheraton Mirage,” says general manager Mark Sexton.

The iconic ochre tiles are gone and in their place is a marble finish, sure to become the hotel’s new trademark.

The resort’s 295 rooms and the corridors which join them were gutted, and then reinvented, with each room’s luxurious marble bathroom the only untouched feature.

The open-plan lobby shines and sets the mood. Walk into Pearls bar and the timber decor and leather lounge suites deliver a classy ambience.

Stage one, completed in April, also included upgrades to Terraces Restaurant, the porte cochere, poolside furnishings and Link@Sheraton.

The second phase of refurbishment began in May and includes an additional $6 million upgrade to meeting venues and landscaping.

The Sheraton Mirage is set amongst 3.5 hectares of sparkling lagoons and tropical gardens and is the Gold Coast’s only fivestar resort with absolute beachfront location.

To celebrate the festive season, the Sheraton Mirage is offering a $190 per person, per night package for a double/twin share suite from Sunday to Thursday.

It includes overnight accommodation in a Mirage Resort room, full buffet breakfast for two people in Terraces Restaurant and a choice of the Festive Buffet, BBQ or three-course set menu.
