Stadium moves closer to kick off

THE new Gold Coast Stadium has been officially named SKILLED Park at an inspection by Premier Beattie.

He says the future home of the Gold Coast Titans National Rugby League team will be state-of-the-art, offering world-class facilities for both players and spectators, with construction of the 25,000-seat venue on track for kick-off of the 2008 NRL season.

Queensland company Watpac is the managing contractor for construction of the new stadium, which will incorporate a range of facilities including a 500-seat function hall, approximately 100 open corporate boxes, 25 closed corporate suites and 16 food and beverage outlets.

Premier Beattie says national staffing services company SKILLED Group has secured the naming rights at the new stadium through the construction period and up to 2013.

SKILLED managing director and chief executive officer Greg Hargrave says the organisation has significant sporting involvement in the region and provides grassroots support to many local sporting clubs and community organisations.

"We have a strong bond with the Gold Coast region, providing support to many community organisations and through our sponsorship of the Indy cars and V8 Supercars," he says.
