WP CURVE SOLD TO GODADDY

WP CURVE SOLD TO GODADDY
NASDAQ-listed tech company GoDaddy has bought Gold Coast's WP Curve for an undisclosed sum.

The subscription-based WordPress support site, which was founded by Dan Norris and Alex McClafferty in 2013, will be brought under the GoDaddy banner.

According to a blog post on the WP Curve website, McClafferty has been working with the GoDaddy team on the transition, while Norris has already moved on to other projects.

"Alex has worked closely with the GoDaddy team to build the transition plan," says the blog post.

"We've made a ton of progress that we can't wait to share in the coming months."

Julie Tucker and Brittni Prieto have been leading the WP Curve team and will join GoDaddy, alongside McClafferty.

Norris (pictured), a 2016 Gold Coast Young Entrepreneur of the Year finalist, is also involved in startup Gold Coast brewery, Black Hops.

The post explains that WP Curve was introduced to GoDaddy in June 2016.

"We shared details about the WP Cuve model, our team and exactly what we've done to get where we have," says the blog.

"We quickly agreed that WP Curve services would be a great fit for GoDaddy's customers.

"WP Curve complements GoDaddy's expanding WordPress offering including managed WordPress and the recent ManageWP addition.

WP Curve has reportedly solved more than 105,000 WordPress problems for its clients since it was founded in 2013.

It is the second South East Queensland-based business to be bought out by a NASDAQ-listed company in two months and comes after 2016 Brisbane Young Entrepreneur of the Year winner, Jordan Grives, sold his business, Fonebox, to J2 Global for a reported $30 million.
