WINNING COMBINATION FOR JUMBO INTERACTIVE

WINNING COMBINATION FOR JUMBO INTERACTIVE

JUMBO Interactive Limited (ASX:JIN) hopes it has a winning combination with lottery and wearable technology, after launching the world's first lotto app for the new Apple watch.

The Brisbane-based interactive lottery business unveiled the venture at the SmartTech Lottery Conference in New York.

The app can process ticket purchases straight from the wrist, as well as send instant alerts for prizes, winning numbers and upcoming draws.

The company released its lottery app for iPhone in 2012 and says mobile purchases now account for 39 per cent of online ticket sales.

Jumbo Interactive CEO and founder Mike Veverka says the app is likely to be a success by merging lotteries with the convenience of push notifications.

"The Apple watch paves the way to a new era in wearable technology and Jumbo is excited about using the watch to take customer service to a higher level with our world-first innovation," Veverka says.

"Lotteries are already part of many people's daily lives and the new app is designed to keep lotteries relevant with people that adopt wearable technology.

"Our experience over the past decade has shown that technology improves the experience of playing the lottery and opens up new demographics that would not otherwise play the lottery."

Veverka says the IT industry is forecasting a boost in wearable technology, as users integrate the electronics into daily tasks.

The application will be available on the app store by April 24, to align with the Apple watch's expected shipping date.
