Triple the bliss

MATTERS of epidermis really get under my skin.

It’s bold enough just contemplating one’s skeletal velvet being exfoliated by Himalayan volcanic lava. But to actually allocate an hour or two of spare time to this hedonistic pursuit is akin to metro-madness.

Not that I’m snickering at the razor-happy chaps out there who strut about as though they have lost their bike during the cycling leg of the triathlon. But how do you justify the time to be pampered these days? There was a time when an accidental lick on the chops by the family hound was considered vanity in my household.

But vitality wears many a mask and on this particular occasion, the mask is a green grunge – which I’m assured, will ‘transform my lacklustre skin while placing me into a state of pure tranquility’.

A silky smooth appearance is achieved with Golden Door’s The Power of 3. Designed to combat dry and dull looking skin brought on by stress and winter, it targets the body, face and feet.

As the mellifluous undertones of a songstress combine with rainforest overtures from the speaker in the corner, I drift away toward the ‘waterfall’.

All the while, the muddied hands of the Golden Door therapist scour the surplus skin from my limp limbs. My feet, which once resembled two chipped retreads from dancing across the rocks at Burleigh when surfing, are now tender as rib fillets.

After an hour or so of this hypnotic treatment, I emerge in a bubble that only bursts when my mind returns to incessant publishing deadlines. Wonderful while it lasted I muse and take a mental note to get back and do it all again.
