SKUDO COVERED AFTER US TRADE SHOW

LESS than a year after signing a 10-year multimillion dollar deal with a US distributor, Skudo Group has generated widespread interest for its innovative floor coating products at trade exhibitions across the Americas.

The next target is a large industry trade show in San Francisco next month, where the Robina-based company will look to emulate its success at the 2011 World of Concrete event held in Las Vegas last January.

The Skudo Floor product won an innovation award in the construction materials category at the World of Concrete, as more than 50,000 attendees scrutinised and commended Skudo’s product range.

Director of Skudo’s US operations Brendon Smith, says the company has experienced success with the active marketing strategy and is confident of a similarly positive reception in other regions.

“Most attendees to these events go there to see something new that will either save them time or money. They promote innovation and act as a platform to launch new innovative products to a specific market,” he says.

“We used both trade shows we exhibited at to do exactly that – launch an innovative product to several markets that received them very well.”

Other marketing channels Skudo USA uses include e-commerce, direct marketing to architects and building companies and referrals from foremen who have experienced the Skudo Floor product first-hand.

Smith says feedback on the Skudo range of peelable floor protection in the US has been ‘overwhelming’ with many leads generated since the company began its involvement in trade exhibitions.

“Attendees were very enthusiastic about the features, performance and the many applications of our products,” he says.

“With the economy just bouncing back, these trade shows act as a filter of sorts, in that attendees who can afford to pay to come to these trade shows will more than likely have a very successful and robust company and hence, will be willing to buy your products.

“Most importantly, we received over 400 leads from potential customers and distributors from the USA and neighbouring countries.”

Established in 1987, Skudo is one of the Gold Coast’s most active medium-sized export companies, with its products also sold into Asia, the Middle East and Europe.
