PCS leads digital innovation

A QUEENSLAND company has joined forces with a global LCD screen manufacturer to enable control and monitoring of boating electrics via its GPS, chart plotter and radar screen.
The deal follows recent meetings at the Miami International Boat show which cemented the way ahead for the Queensland-based Paulger Control Systems (PCS) and key partners to develop and release the technology.
PCS has partnered with Digital Switching Systems in the US and is now playing a vital role in bringing the product and a raft of other cutting edge electronics to the Australian marine industry.
PCS chief executive Alan Paulger, says there ‘is a lot happening’ for the company on the global stage but is now focussed on bringing the innovation to the Gold Coast.
“The next generation of power management modules will enable the boater to see live information via their GPS and chart plotter,” says Paulger.
PCS has also launched its new product, the Reverse Polarity Sensor that complies with new wiring rules that came into play late last year.
“Our little device makes it very simple to comply with the new regulations,” says Paulger.
“We have ploughed a lot of money into this device to get full certification and as far a we are aware, it’s the only product on the market that is certified. In short, every boat that has a shore power inlet fitted, should have this device to comply with new standards.”
Paulger says that new safety regulations mean that all electrical work carried out on a boat must comply with current standards.
“Our little device is easily retrofitted to any vessel (by a licensed electrician) within about 20 minutes and provides a much safer 240v electrical system,” he says.
PCS is also launching a series of webinars with its US partner and the Italian-based Blink Marine.
“This will allow people in the trade to log in and participate in up-skilling their knowledge to be able to work with and understand the technology now being used throughout the boating world,” says Paulger.
