CLEAN CUTTING YOUR POWER BILL

CLEAN CUTTING YOUR POWER BILL

SLICING your power bill may resonate as a tacky infomercial, but a Brisbane business is really delivering on this household wish for an entire community.

QPS Geothermal will interject with residential heating and cooling, which is responsible for 50 per cent of household energy costs, to deliver big savings for an 800-home strong community in western Sydney.

The outcome will be the creation of one of the world’s biggest masterplanned geothermal communities, ‘Fairwater’ in Blacktown, where residents will enjoy an approximate 60 per cent cut-down on their energy bills compared to a standard air-conditioned home.

For an average four person household with GeoAir technology installed, the savings could be in excess of $500 per year.

QPS Geothermal touts its in-ground GeoAir renewable energy system as delivering the highest known efficiencies of any air conditioning or heating system on the market at a fraction of the cost.

“It is designed to protect families from rising energy costs using a system that is cost-effective, easy to install and use," says QPS Geothermal director Paul Costello (pictured).

“Heating and cooling of the home accounts for more than 50 per cent of electricity costs, and with prices continuing to climb, quite simply Australians need more affordable options.”

QPS Geothermal is a vertically integrated company which has been covering the bases of manufacturing, installation and product development for the past 17 years, the past four of which have required full-steam from its 100 staff to develop Australia's first residential geothermal system on scale.

Since launching GeoAir into the market six months ago, the company's profile has raised significantly, and it is now teaming up with national partners to build on its goal of sustainable living.

QPS Geothermal will partner with Homebush-based property group Australand for the Fairwater project.

Australand sustainability manager Paolo Bevilacqua says the initiative will make the community one of Australia’s most sustainable.

“Our new Fairwater masterplanned community in Western Sydney will be one of the country’s most sustainable and raises the bar for environmental performance at a community level,” says Bevilacqua.

“We investigated ways to reduce energy costs and improve efficiency and the benefits of the GeoAir systems were apparent after we piloted the geothermal technology for 24 months in our Lidcombe sales office.

“We’re proud to announce that the cutting edge technology will be standard for each new home site at Fairwater.”

The GeoAir technology works by using the earth’s constant temperature to heat and cool underground pipes.

QPS Geothermal introduced the technology to Australia after observing its success in the United States and Europe, and Fairwater will be one of the first residential developments to be registered for a Green Star Communities Pilot rating.
