CHEVRON RENAISSANCE JOINS DIGITAL AGE

AFTER launching a multimillion-dollar transformation that has more than halved vacancies, BRW Rich Lister Shaun Bonétt is now bringing the Chevron Renaissance retail precinct into the digital age.

Bonétt, who bought Chevron Renaissance shopping centre for $75 million in 2014, is offering shoppers a 'digital hand' with a new custom app.

The app is part of an effort to create a customised shopping experience for visitors allowing them to receive the latest promotions, updates, and information about the centre.

"Our tailored app will guide customers around the precinct based on the products or services they are interested in, allows retailers to promote tailored deals and lets them connect with friends and other users using the app while visiting," says Chevron Renaissance shopping centre marketing manager Sarah Tate.

"This app is part of a centre wide digital strategy that will also see us offering free WiFi for customers and information hubs providing all of the centre's details in Mandarin Chinese and other languages to cater for tourism growth."

Since buying the Surfers Paradise property, Bonétt has undertaken a refurbishment of Chevron Renaissance amid a resurgence of retail activity in the city's tourism heart.

When he acquired the property, it had about 23 tenant vacancies.

Now, with high levels of commercial interests leading to the level-one office space fully leased, the mixed-use centre has just 10 vacancies.

Chevron Renaissance shopping centre is owned by Bonétt's Precision Group, which is seeking to position the property as one of the leading retail and dining destinations on the Gold Coast.

Recently appointed Precision Group Queensland leasing executive Kevin Ramsey says Precision Group's investment has led to a boost in retail and commercial interest in the refurbished precinct.

Education Entrepreneur and Central Physio and Health have recently joined GoldLinQ and international tourism business H.I.S as new tenants.

"As we enter the final quarter of 2015 a number of new businesses plan to open before the summer holidays begin, to maximise trading conditions," says Ramsey.

"We have worked very hard on a strategy that ensures we have a diverse and complementary mix of professional services based commercial tenants as well as retail and dining operators that align with the multimillion-dollar refurbishment of Chevron Renaissance shopping centre.

"The ongoing rejuvenation of Surfers Paradise is also playing a part with increased interest in the area coming off the back of the high level of investment in the precinct."

The shopping centre has more than 8000sqm of lettable retail space and 4000sqm of office space, as well as alfresco areas.
